AusDance ACT
Ausdance ACT is the peak body for dance in the ACT, and part of the Ausdance national network. Ausdance ACT brings together professional dance companies, tertiary dance course providers, freelance and community artists, traditional and recreational groups, studio teachers, teachers within education systems, dancers, choreographers, students, researchers, administrators, dance therapists and members of the public. Ausdance ACT is a not-for-profit organisation supported by the ACT Government.
Ausdance ACT services and promotes dance through annual major projects. It also puts you in touch with the wider world of dance.
- The annual Master School – international-level dancer teachers for a whole week’s intensive at Gorman House Arts
- Centre in the third week of January.
- Australian Dance Week – the first week of May has a week of free dance events across the region until the promotional banner Get Out And Dance.
- Smokefree Youth Dance Festival – the region’s biggest dance event in Spring.
- Dance Directory – 100 pages of listings of dance schools across the region, published in December.
- The E-Bulletin every month of special dance events, offers and stories.
- Master classes with major visiting dance companies.
- Services for professional dancers include information and reference resources, auspicing of grants, access to low-cost insurance schemes for the dance industry, networking, and links to tertiary dance academies.
- Central information source for the public about dance in the region.
- A stock of Tarkett® portable dance surface for hire.
