Holiday Trading
Our last day of trade for 2011 will be on Saturday 24th December (Christmas Eve), reopening in 2012 on Saturday 14th January
Saturdays 10am – 4pm
For a quarter of a century the Gorman House Markets have been Canberra’s much loved meeting place providing opportunities for Canberra’s community and visitors alike to express themselves creatively, trade and shop in a vibrant environment, have access to an audience, engage in the arts and be part of living heritage.
Each Saturday the markets’ transform the Gorman House Arts Centre into a spectacle of colour and laughter, with a festival like atmosphere and plenty to do and see for everyone, the markets continue to be the place to be on Saturdays in Canberra.

*       Poetry Open Microphone – 2nd weekend of each month
Ghost of the Gorman House Man Hatin’ Matron Poetry Open Microphone (without a microphone but with a milk crate) provides a forum for you to take to the milk crate with poetry or if you want to listen take in some words from poets on the open mic (with-out a microphone but with a milk crate.) Each month we will also be featuring two new Canberran poets.
*       Zine Tent – 2nd Saturday of each month
Gorman House Gatling G’Zine Machine and Galleria is the place to locate and purchase locally produced zines from Canberra’s poetry and arts scenes; or if you are a zinester yourself, a place for you to peddle your publications.
 
Becoming a stallholder
 
To apply for a site, please contact markets’ management with your name, contact details: phone number & email address, brief product description, type of site requested and preferred dates.
Indicate if you are interested in trading as a casual, regular or long-term stallholder or if you are applying to participate in Gorman Gallery.
(It is encouraged that applicants for Gorman Gallery include photos of their products with their application.)
 
Types of sites available:
 
*       Veranda sites are on undercover walkways, stallholders may set tables up on both sides of the site leaving a walkway through the centre for customers. Walkways must be accessible for wheelchairs and strollers.
 
*       Courtyard sites are open air sites on the lawn areas. Stallholders are welcome to set up gazebos or umbrellas, stallholders must ensure gazebos or umbrellas are suitably pegged down or weighted.
 
*       Indoor sites include sites in the Bogong Theatre, Fireplace Room and corridors.
 
Types of stallholders:
 
*       Casual stallholder (CS) a casual stallholder may pay on the day of their stall or in advance. Casual stalls are allocated on a first come first served basis.
 
Bookings for casual stallholders may be made for a single date of trade or for one or more consecutive or non-consecutive dates, bookings for casual stalls can be made in advance or between 8am-9am on Saturday mornings.
 
*       Regular stallholder (RS) a regular stallholder attends the markets regularly and pays at least 7 days in advance. Regular stallholders wherever possible will be offered the same site for the ensuring week.
 
Bookings for regular stallholders must be made in advance for a minimum of two (2) consecutive Saturdays.
 
*       Long-term stallholder (LTS) a long-term stallholder attends the markets regularly and pays at least one week in advance for the ensuring month. Long-term stallholders wherever possible will be offered the same site for the booked month, and for the ensuring month.
Long-term stallholders receive a 10% discount of the cost of their site fees. 
 
Bookings for long-term stallholders must be made in advance for a whole month four (4) or 5 (5) Saturdays depending on the month.
 
*       Gorman Gallery (GG) provides emerging artists and students of the arts in Canberra with an opportunity to trade at the markets for the special discounted rate of $10.00 per week for up to a maximum of 10 dates of trade.
The aim of Gorman Gallery is to provide Canberra’s artists with a cost effective opportunity to gain new exposure, establish a presence, test new works on the market place and start making sales.
 
Applicants will be required to show that they are either currently enrolled in an arts based course in the ACT, or are an emerging artist seeking to establish themselves as an artist or craftsperson in the Canberra region.
25 positions in Gorman Gallery are available each week. A stallholder participating in Gorman Gallery may attend as either a casual or a regular stallholder.
 
Bookings for Gorman Gallery must be made in advance. All required dates must be booked for on approval of application, and all booked dates must fall within a three (3) month period. Approved applicants may book between 1 – 10 dates.
Approved applicants who book and trade for less than 10 dates may re-apply to trade for further dates however no stallholder can participate in Gorman Gallery for more than ten (10) dates in total.
 
*       Food stalls are welcome to contact management to apply. All food stall holders are required to provide a copy of their current food business registration before application will be accepted.
Limited sites are available at the markets for the sale of food. 
 
 
Site fees are inclusive of public liability insurance.
